The first visit will last approximately 60 minytes depending on how cooperative the animal is. We will assess and diagnose, we will work with the 5 Elements Theory to understand more about the animal and we will do the 1st treatment.

Every case is different but in general we recommend two or three treatments close together after the first assessment in order to see improvement. Those follow ups will last around 30min – again depending on the animal.

For the treatment we have several options. We can use dry needles on their own or we can attach them to an electric current. This is called electroacupuncture which reinforces the treatment and in my opinion makes it last a bit longer. But, this is not for everyone because it is  quite strong, so its use will be case dependent.

Another option is to use the laser, alone or together with dry needle insertion.

Sometimes we can use moxibustion – a technique for cases where the animal is “cold” – based on our Chinese Medicine Diagnosis.

In other cases we will do aqua-acupuncture, which consists of the injection of some liquid in the acupuncture point. The liquid could include  blood, vitamin b12 or saline, determined by the condition and the animal

The modality chosen will be based on the diagnosis, but of course and mainly on the patient´s: age, condition, mood, personality etc.
